After great success with our initial self-paced training initiative, Collibra recognized the need for a more robust learning experience and invested in a new custom learning platform. The new platform includes a variety of learning opportunities that uphold established learning theories complemented by engaging game mechanics to keep you learning and moving forward as you expand your knowledge and exploration of data governance.
Let’s look at some of the exciting changes we’ve made!
New Course Approach: The most important factor is context!
One of the biggest challenges with learning is understanding “why” what you are doing adds value and is important to your organization, as well as your career. The courses in Collibra University 2.0 aim to address this challenge by applying Contextual Learning techniques. These techniques include scenario-based learning, learning-by-doing exercises, collaborative discussion forums and assignments.
Courses are organized into Learning Series that allow you to focus on what you need to perform your role in data governance effectively. Whether you are a Chief Data Officer or a college student, Collibra University 2.0 can help you excel and succeed.
We know everyone learns differently and one size does not fit all.
We have developed multiple learning opportunities for you to explore. We want to make sure you have a variety of learning methods based upon your particular business objectives. Our courses use a variety of media formats so you can learn the way you are most comfortable. many of the courses use video combined with transcripts, downloadable materials and additional resources, including links to the new Collibra Community 2.0.
In addition to our courses, we’ve introduced tutorials, weekly teaser videos where you can vote on whether or not the topic should be developed into a full course; expert interviews and roundtable discussions that address real-world challenges, successes and even failures in data governance; and Frontier stories that provide insight to customer success and use cases to help you develop your own governance approach and contribute to your company’s bottom line.
CAMPR – Certification, Awards, Motivation, Participation and Retention
Collibra recognizes the challenge to stay motivated while working through professional development and training. Compounding this problem, digital learning cannot transmit emotion or engage the student in the same manner as a face-to-face instructor. Collibra University researched and analyzed a variety of teaching and learning techniques to address our primary goals:
- motivate learners to continue through a course or learning series
- reward participation in the learning environment
- increase certification in Collibra products
- to improve retention of university learners
Our initial launch of University 2.0 includes a dashboard to track your progress through the courses and points and badges awarded for your accomplishments. You can also nominate peers and be awarded Collibra Recognition for outstanding performance. But his is only the beginning. Throughout 2017 Collibra will be introducing contest and challenges to keep you motivated.
From Data Steward through Collibra Ranger exams, all certifications have been incorporated into University 2.0 with a slightly different approach. Each certification is accompanied with a course roadmap to help you prepare for certification. The key difference is the courses are not required. For example you can register for University 2.0 and immediately enroll in the Steward certification course. Once registered, you have 3 attempts at success within 30 days. If you are unsuccessful at passing the exam within that timeframe you must wait 30 days to re-enroll. This will provide you the time to review the recommended courses and be better prepared. Once you successfully pass the Steward Certification exam you can immediately enroll in the Community Manager certification course and so on.
Our instructors are our most important and valuable asset. Their skills, knowledge and ability to communicate are the key to deliver a better learning experience for our customers.
Collibra University actively recruit the leaders from the fields of Data Governance, Data Stewardship, Data Management, BI and Data Science. Their industry expertise will continue to provide our learners with a unique perspective that is relevant to their day-to-day application and management of Data Governance.
