About this Course

Approximate Time to Completion: 1 hour
Instructor: Stewart Coerver, Presales Engineer, Collibra

In this course, you will learn how to upload your assets from the spreadsheets, which are most commonly used for business glossaries, terminologies and acronym lists. It’s important to remember that you can use spreadsheet upload for any type of asset, including a report, a list of reports, a list of columns, tables and schemas. Assets are anything you want to define, govern, wrap a process around, and value as an asset.

Assets are described and put in context with characteristics. There are really two fundamental types of characteristics that we’ll talk about, that you’ll be loading to in Collibra. The first is attributes. Attributes are static pieces of metadata; descriptions, last modified dates, data types, those types of attributes. The second type is relations. Relations are how you tie a string between any two asset types. That could mean a business term is tied to its acronym, a system is tied is the system of record for an attribute.  The relationships that you need to define, that may not come out of the box with Collibra, but can be easily added and uploaded. The intent is to keep this process as foolproof as possible, so that you can move quickly, get your assets in, and get started!
