Let’s talk about the Chief Digital Officer, the CDO, and how this position is going to evolve. Everybody needs to be empowered around their data, the same way a CDO needs to be empowered around the global data of the company, and at the end of the day, the same way the CEO has to be empowered. Data is just a piece of raw material we need to work with. There are commonalities that CDOs or data CEOs need always to keep in mind. Data has to be fluid. Data has to be processed efficiently.Everybody should be a Data CDO and even better, everyone should be a Data CEO, because as you run your organization, whether it’s yourself as an individual contributor, or your department, or your plant, or even your complete organization, you need to control your data. You constantly need to be able to grasp the elements that are critical for the survival of what you’re doing. At the same time, you need to be extremely efficient on how you’re going to manage all this information to crack out the code that will deliver the writing side for the next incoming decisions.
Finally, closing the loop, internal teams have the data, the business acumen, and they are the best ones in the company to be able to ask the right questions of the data. That’s where the data scientist, once again, needs their help. Being supported by a data-driven culture team will definitely help the data scientist to aim its algorithms, and its math, and its statistics, into the right direction, so more than ever, the data scientists need to be supported by data-driven team and visa versa.data is agnostic. In that supply chain of data, efficiency has to be driven as much as possible with the machine so that human beings can actually focus on the adding value tasks.
